Summary: Felina’s forest is shrinking...
Felina the Florida panther loved growing up in her forest home, until the forest starts to shrink! Trees begin to disappear, and Felina doesn’t understand the new busy highway in the neighborhood. Other animals are in danger, too. Will Felina find a way to survive as humans threaten to ruin her home? Environmental science writer Loran Wlodarski gives children a look into deforestation and endangered animals in Felina’s New Home: A Florida Panther Story, complemented by the detailed, emotive illustrations of Lew Clayton. Learn whether the animals in Felina’s forest adapt to the new human presence and what children can do to keep wild animals safe, happy, and healthy.

Felina’s New Home: A Florida
Off the Shelf – Book Review - Mullet Wrapper
“Felina's New Home, A Florida Panther Story”
by Loran Wlodarski
reviewed by Patricia Huff
Since it is Spring Break for so many of our Florida students, a
children's book seemed appropriate to review this time of year.
Loran Wlodarski has published several award-winning
educational books for children and this one focuses on the loss
of habitat for the Florida Panther and other wildlife. Eventually,
Felina is relocated to a protected refuge area. The book also
features information about different Florida wildlife and gives
the young readers an opportunity to learn from answering
questions about the animals. Felina's New Home is beautifully
illustrated by Lew Clayton who has been a graphic designer for
20 years. This book can be purchased at WinCar, Ivey House, Smallwood Store,
Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center, and National Park Boat Tours gift shop. A nice
gift for your grandchildren and an interesting way to learn about our Everglades wildlife.
