The tour program is modeled after the popular partnership with the Hendry-Glades Audubon Society, which has served more than 5,000 bird watchers from across the globe at Stormwater Treatment Area 5 in Hendry County.
Stormwater Treatment Areas (STAs) are the water-cleaning workhorses of Everglades restoration. These expansive wetlands utilize plants to naturally remove phosphorus from water flowing into the Everglades. They have also become renowned havens for wildlife and outdoor enthusiasts alike.
